Rush es un tipo de mediana edad al que la crisis le ha tocado de fondo perdiendo su casa y su trabajo, ahora se dedica a hacer instalaciones de sonido en barcos por su cuenta y a beber cerveza, su barriga y su frigo lleno de budweiser lo confirman. Su look es muy americano rockero, gorra, tatuajes y fan de Led Zeppelin, tiene el típico garaje con su frigo, batería, guitarra y doscientas mil cosas, además de un pick up gigante al que casi no me llegan las piernas para montar y que parece que también tiene que vender para comprarse un casa con su novia miss Ontario del 82.

Parece un bien tipo, nos pusimos en contacto con el antes de salir de España por un anuncio que vimos en la Craiglist ( página donde puedes comprar y vender todo lo que se te pase por la cabeza por internet) de este camper truck, que era el vehículo que buscábamos ya que es 4X4 y tiene su casita arriba. En ningún momento le dijimos que éramos españoles porque ya tenemos experiencia de que eso echa para atrás a la gente, ya que no tenemos mucha idea de cómo hacer el papeleo y puede ser un marrón para el vendedor. Hemos quedado a primera hora de la mañana, tiene el vehículo aparcado en la puerta y cuando lo vemos ¡flechazoooo, que pasadaaa! Esta genial, así que le digo a Jose, nos la quedamos, habíamos programado visitas para dos días pero sin muchas expectativas, y lejos así que pájaro en mano. Nos nota un acento raro y le decimos que somos españoles y lo que queremos hacer, el colega lo flipa y nos dice, que no nos preocupemos que tiene un contacto para hacer el papeleo. El seguro lo vamos a arreglar por nuestra cuanta ya que sólo hay una aseguradora que lo hace con carnet internacional, GEICO. Una vez hecho dejamos 300 $ de depósito hasta que consigamos el resto del dinero porque Rush no se fía de las transacciones por Internet y quiere la pasta en metálico, aunque trajimos de España, nos falta dinero, y esto se va a convertir en una pesadilla por que llegamos a conseguirlo todo menos 500 $ y no hay manera de sacarlo, le contamos a Rush la movida y nos dice que no nos preocupemos y nos lleva de banco en banco a ver si es posible, lo hemos tenido tres días mareando con papeleo, banco, herramientas… ¡que paciencia el hombre !, pero creo que le mola llevarnos en su pick up gigante de acá para allá con el aire acondicionado a toda leche y la música de Led Zeppeling a todo tren, vibramos en el coche… vaya elemento, durante todos estos viajes nos cuenta historias de su vida, el toca la guitarra y tenía un grupo y era lo que quería hacer pero según él, por accidente vino su hijo que ahora tiene 24 años… nosotros le contamos también las nuestras, así que es todo muy ameno aunque yo estoy a punto de congelarme L.

Margot es una señora ecuatoriana majísima que ha montado una agencia de registro de vehículos, es el día de la boda de su hijo y ahí están preparándonos los papeles de registro y propiedad. Para registrar un coche en Estados Unidos lo único que te hace falta es pasaporte, carnet de conducir internacional y una dirección, que no tenemos pero gracias Adrián y Mónica que nos han ofrecido su ayuda incondicionalmente lo hemos conseguido. Muchas gracias chicos, nos vemos muy pronto.

No tenemos no idea de cómo funcionan las cosas aquí pero desde luego nada que ver con España, para hacer algo así hay que tener una gran dosis de confianza en el cuerpo y por suerte nosotros la tenemos. Nos han dicho que con el registro ya podemos circular y el certificado de propiedad nos lo enviaran por correo a la dirección que dimos.

Después de una hora, el coche es nuestro oficialmente! Tenemos una pick up ¡

Mañana queremos ir a ver a Ana cerca de San Diego, así que dejamos el vehículo en casa de Rush para recogerlo el lunes y que nos de unas nociones de funcionamiento.

Lunes 23-05-2016

Rush tiene que ir al dentista y nos deja la verja abierta para poder entrar nuestros trastos en la caravana, mientras tenemos que ir al aeropuerto a devolver el coche de alquiler y volver en taxi hasta su casa, después de darnos todas la explicaciones y demás, hay una despedida emocional, nos damos un abrazo y Rush nos desea " ¡buena suerte amigos ¡ y nos dice : "Nos vemos a la vuelta para vender el coche ".

Rush is a middle-aged guy that the economic crisis has touched him deeply losing his home and work, now he is working making sound installations in boats on his own and drinking beer, his belly and his fridge full of budweiser confirm it . His look is very American rocker, cap, tattoos and fan of Led Zeppelin, he has the typical garage with a fridge, drums, guitar and two hundred thousand other things besides a giant pick up that I could hardly get my legs to get in and that also has to sell to buy a house with his girlfriend, miss Ontario 82.

He seems a good guy, we got in contact with him before leaving Spain for an advertisement that we saw in the Craiglist (page where you can buy and sell everything that comes to your mind by internet) for this camper truck, which was the vehicle we were looking for as it is a 4x4 and has a little home above. At that time we didn´t told him that we are Spanish because we already have experience that they get cold feet because we do not have much idea on how to do the paperwork and can be complicate for the seller. We left early in the morning, the truck is parked at the gate and when we see it, love at first sight!, it is so cool from outside !.

It is great, so I tell Jose, we'll take it, we had scheduled visits to dealers for two days but without many expectations that they can offer us this kind of vehicle, so bird in the hand. He notice a strange accent and we say that we are Spanish and the trip we want to do, he amaze about it and says that a colleague can arrange all the paper work for us. The insurance we arrange it ourselves the same day as there is only one company that insures vehicles with international driving license, GEICO. Once is done, we leave $ 300 deposit until we get the rest of the money because Rush does not trust online transactions and he wants the money in cash, although we brought some cash from Spain, we need more money, and this is going to turn into a nightmare, we could get all but $ 500 and there is no way to get it, we tell Rush our problem and he tells us not to worry, he drives us from bank to bank to see if it is possible, he is already three days helping us with paperwork, bank, tools ... so much patience man, but I think he likes taking us on his giant pick up from one place to another with the freezing air conditioning and the music of Led Zeppeling so loud that make us vibrate in the car ... During all these trips Rush tell us stories about his life, his failed dream of playing guitar and had a band but by accident his son, who is now 24 years came ... we also tell him ours, so it's all very much fun, the only thing is that I am about to freeze.

Margot is avery nice Ecuadorian lady who is running a registration agency for vehicles, is the wedding day of her son today and she is there preparing our registration papers and property title. To register a car in the United States the only thing you need is a passport, an international driving license and an address that actually we do not have but thanks to Adrian and Monica who have offered us their help unconditionally we succeeded. We have no idea how things work here, but certainly nothing to do with Spain, to do something like this you must have a great doses of trust in the body, and luckily we have it. We have been told that with the registration we can drive without any problem in USA and Canada and ownership certificate will be sent send by post to the address we gave. After an hour, the car is officially ours! We have a pick up ! Tomorrow we go to see Ana near San Diego, so we left the car at Rush´s house to pick it up on Monday and get all the explanation to drive this big. Monday 23-05-2016 Rush has to go to the dentist and leaves us the gate of the fence open to put our stuff in the camper, main while we have to go to the airport to return the rental car and come back by taxi to his home, after giving all the explanations and chat a bit, there is an emotional farewell, he gave us a hug and wishes us good luck. “Friends see you around, maybe to sell the car after the trip “.
